Ascend's Treatment Programs for Adults

ABA Therapy for Adults

At Ascend ABA, we provide services for adults on the autism spectrum, and related diagnoses. We are able to provide continuity of care for adolescents who previously received services at Ascend ABA, for adults who are new to ABA services, or for adults who previously aged out of ABA services and need additional assistance.

Many of our current adult clients self-refer to Ascend ABA to receive focused assistance with navigating the workplace, transitioning to college, creating and adhering to a daily schedule, and initiating and maintaining relationships with peers. We provide adult services in-person, via telehealth, or in a hybrid model, depending on the needs and preferences of our clients.

Why We Offer ABA Services for Adults

Why do we offer programs for adults? The answer is simple: because some adults on the autism spectrum need assistance with navigating changing, complex social situations, or contact us for assistance in developing daily routines that help them be successful. Our mission is to reduce barriers to accessing ABA services, and we know many providers do not offer services for adults. Accessing ABA services provides an effective avenue for adults with autism spectrum disorder to learn the skills they need to thrive in all areas of their lives.

Building relationships with family members friends, and even workplace acquaintances can be difficult. For those on the autism spectrum, the skills needed to navigate these relationships can be learned through ABA therapy and social skills activities.

We provide a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment for our adult clients to access the help they need. Our team of BCBAs creates thoughtful and effective plans to partner with our adult clients and help them achieve their goals for therapy.

What to Expect from Our Adult Programs

As with our younger clients, our team of BCBAs will create an assessment plan to help determine specific areas of strength and areas where additional support is needed. For many of our adult clients, they self-refer to us with specific clinical goals in mind. Some examples include:

  • Meeting peers

  • Getting and keeping a job

  • Transitioning to college

  • Using public transportation to commute to work

  • Maintaining personal hygiene

  • Managing finances

  • Cooking meals

  • Establishing friendships and romantic relationships

  • Learning coping skills

Of course, our team is also equipped to help adult clients who engage in more severe forms of challenging behaviors, such as self-injurious behavior or aggression.
